Prevent Bad Breath

There is no denying that bad breath can be embarrassing and a condition that affects millions of Americans. It happens from time to time, and if you have chronic bad breath you should visit your dentist and rule out of possibility of dental problems.

The following are seven simple ways you can help prevent bad breath.

Visit Your Dentist
The best way to make sure that you are maintaining good dental hygiene is by visiting your local dentist for regular checkups.

Twice Daily Teeth Brushing
By brushing your teeth properly twice a day you can help remove plaque.

Floss Daily
Flossing your teeth on a daily basis will help remove food debris left between the teeth that a toothbrush may not always be able to clean.

Gargle Mouth Rinse
Use mouth rinse such as Listerine on a daily basis. If you suffer from frequent bad breath, using mouth rinse will only mask the odor and not provide a cure. Please see your dentist if you suffer from chronic bad breath as it may be a sign of other dental problems.

Brush Your Tongue
In addition to properly brushing your teeth, help prevent bad breath by scraping away bacteria through brushing your tongue.

Avoid Tobacco Products
Tobacco products tend to dry your mouth and leave an unpleasant smell. Additionally, smoking can lead to making your teeth less aesthetic over time by turning your teeth from white to yellow if you are a frequent smoker.

Avoid Dry Mouth
Make sure to drink plenty of water (avoid soda and other high sugar drinks). Additionally, as your dentist about over the counter saliva substitute.
